Uncensored version of Duran Duran's Girls on Film video.

Duran Duran are an English pop band from the UK who were successful in the 1980s and made a recent comeback. Girls on Film was Duran Duran's top ten breakthrough release in the UK singles chart, reaching number 5. However, it did not make the chart in America on first release, only becoming popular when the MTV played lots of their stuff in 1983 when they re-issued the debut album Duran DUran. The song starts out with the rapid clicking sound made by the motor driver on a camera. Girls on Film and Rio, both famous hits now, were omitted from the 1984 live album Arena.

The video for Girls on Film was a little controversial and some stations banned it while others heavily censored it. It featured topless women mud wrestling and various other naked women involved in sexual fetishes. Directing duo Godley and Creme were responsible for this forward thinking art that was filmed in two weeks after MTV was launched in the U.S. Te band hoped the explicit uncensored video would show on nightclub screens and maybe the Playboy channel. It was quickly banned by the BBC in the Britain and edited/cut for airing on MTV. The controversy nonetheless boosted the band's popularity. Did you know the Betamax video version had the full uncensored 'night version'. As Simon Le Bon commented, it is a shame the scandal of the video overshadowed the song's message about fashion model exploitation.
