Björk Guðmundsdóttir is a singer/songwriter from Iceland (she has also done some acting and music production). She has very expressive vocals and makes use of a diverse range of electronic styles, fitting loosely into a number of genres, including electronica and trip-hop.
The single Cocoon was the 3rd track to be released from Bjork's album Vespertine and she co-wrote it with Thomas Knak. It is essentially a musing about girl enjoying romance with some rather sexually explicit situations being descrived metaphorically. However, the lyrics were not the problem for censors, it was the video. Bjork already had a reputaion after her controversial video for Pagan Poetry that featured distorted imagery of Bjork in sexual intercourse and performing fellatio (blowjob to some). MTV2 did eventually show Pagan Poetry on a program called "20 Most Controversial Music Videos". However, the milder nude shots in Cocoon have yet to be shown on MTV. Some European stations will show it late at night unedited.
